The September 11 attacks were caused by terrorists hijacking US planes and flying them into major US landmarks. Terrorists are people who use violence to achieve political goals. One of the goals of terrorists is to create political change by establishing fear in a society they despise. They achieve their goals by using fear against the government. Targeting innocent victims and significant locations has been the preferred method of terrorism rather than larger terrorist attacks. Terrorists have used many different tactics. In the 1960s many terrorists participated in bank robberies and hijackings. Currently, the tactics used include kidnappings, murders, arson, train robberies, bombings and one of the most gruesome airline hijackings. There is no way that has been proven to completely prevent terrorism; however, it can be controlled using the Border Patrol. The Border Patrol, however, would not prevent suicide bombings. Suicide bombings could hit and damage many different targets. Some targets include government buildings, military bases, and many more. On September 11, 2001, suicide bombings reached a whole new level. It was the worst attack on the United States since the attack on Pearl Harbor. The September 11 attacks affected America immensely because of its massive killings and the fear that prevailed afterwards. On September 11, 2001, America experienced a grave tragedy with the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. A group of terrorists, calling themselves al-Qaeda, hijacked American planes and flew them into three American properties. The World Trade Center towers were one of the tallest buildings in the world before the attack.
