Private property can be many things, from your house to the pencil you use to write notes. It is your property and no one should be able to take it away from you. When it came to wanting to treat people fairly and equally, Marx had some ideas that could still be used today. Although Locke and Marx are similar in that they want fairness to be the focus of government, they differ in how they believe in their government. Locke views government with optimism while Marx only has condescending views revolving around it. In his writings, Karl Marx refutes many of John Locke's views and perceptions about private property, government, and work and how they affect society.
