The Assassination of John F. Kennedy After a very close election, John F. Kennedy beat Republican opponent Richard Nixon for the presidency. The first months of Kennedy's term did not go well, among many other conflicts and situational events the main disappointment was the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. Kennedy's entire time in office was not a reflection of his first few months. He was very successful in stimulating the economy, the civil rights movements and also in preventing the cold war from turning hot. Kennedy did not continue his success because he was assassinated. What would have happened if JFK had actually been killed by the CIA? Americans would not believe in their government. Lee Harvey Oswald is believed to have been responsible for the president's assassination, although discrepancies and evidence exist to support a conspiracy theory. (Expand introduction.) Kennedy was traveling and giving speeches in nine different states in just one week, in preparation for his upcoming presidential campaign that had not been announced but was obvious. The first state Kennedy traveled to Texas, along with his wife Jackie Kennedy. This was the first appearance Mrs. Kennedy had made since losing her son Patrick to hyaline membrane disease, also known as infant respiratory distress syndrome, he was only two days old (The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum) . The day started like any other but quickly ended in tragedy and heartbreak. As the motorcade drove down a crowded Dallas street, a shot rang out. The president had been struck in the back of the head and neck by the bullet and had fallen toward Mrs. Kennedy. Texas governor John Connelly was also hit by a bullet. The president and governor were both taken to Pa...... middle of paper ...... was full of poisonous gases and toxins (Wikipedia “Cuban”). Kennedy was unaware of the CIA's attempt to execute Cuban officials. Some of the people of interest for the CIA are Johnny Rosella, saintly dealer, Sam Gianana and Bill Harvey, who was also a person of interest in the Kennedy assassination. During the investigations of the ecclesiastical commission, both Roselli and Giancana were killed. There is no evidence that the President or the Warren Commission knew about the CIA's Operation Mongoose or any of the people involved. Given that all CIA missions are top secret even for the country's leader, it is not surprising that they are involved in the assassination of President Kennedy. While they didn't do it James Bond style, they still executed the president and had no ramifications of their actions, they let the consequences fall on Oswald and Ruby..
