Computers and the Internet have been instrumental in ensuring that we always remain connected to the world around us. With the development of mobile communications, the size of personal computers has been reduced to a minimum. This has resulted in information being available at your fingertips 24/7. This change has been facilitated by the advent of laptops, mobile phones and tablets. Rapid innovation in information technology and its ready accessibility and convergence of media across different platforms have made information accessible at all times. This has led to frequent and often excessive use of this information as it is no longer bound by physical barriers. This convenience in accessing information has led to the phenomenon of addiction to the use of the Internet. A disorder unique to our generation. It was only a matter of time before its convenient accessibility led to overuse and abuse by individuals who became addicted to it. Excessive Internet use has now been recognized as a real disorder with several unique characteristics that tend to interfere with one's normal life. Internet addiction disorder, as it is commonly called, is also known as compulsive use and excessive use of the Internet. The use of information and communication technology to collect and disseminate information allows us to learn, be aware of, and share that information easily and often effortlessly. Numerous websites and Internet portals provide us with this information minute by minute in the form of news,...... middle of paper...... we leave it to the common sense of the individual to realize and guarantee how much is too much for consider Internet use as an addiction and how they would like to deal with it. ICT is indeed a very powerful means of connecting, learning and sharing information in the digital age, but its practicality should be measured on an individual basis. Wisdom tells us that too much of anything is bad. If we use it to the point that it hinders our daily life and starts to interfere with it, then it is really a cause for concern and would start to have a negative impact on us. The use of the Internet through ICT is convenient and interactive, but we must try to use it in a positive way so that it does not interfere in our daily lives and influences us positively. The idea behind the existence of ICT is to use it responsibly so that it works for us efficiently and effectively.
