WHAT IS THE BIBLE? What is 1What is the Bible? This article will define the Bible and examine its origin, inerrancy, purpose, and power. Reasons for studying the Bible along with Scripture and historical data will also be discussed. The fact that the Bible has stood the test of time and has not been destroyed, despite several attempts over the years, is a testament to the enduring power of God's Holy Word. Many men have lost their lives producing and preserving this book collection. This further proves that the Bible is the most important and influential book of all time. God wrote the Bible. Who can give a better explanation of who God is than God himself? Although God did not put pen to paper to produce the first paper copy, the Bible was “inspired” by God over a period of 1500 years using 40 different men. The parts of the Bible were “God-breathed,” making each a Word of God and not the words of the men who wrote them. This process is known as plenary verbal inspiration. Plenary means full and verbal means word for word, so every Word in the Bible comes directly from God. 2 Timothy 3:16 reads, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction. 'injustice". This scripture provides evidence that the Bible is written by God. The Bible is an infallible collection of books. Because God is perfect, His words are perfect.
