Shakespeare's plays have been performed all over the world, including in Great Britain. They have been seen at the Globe Theater in London since Elizabethan times. The Globe Theater has had a variety of different audiences in its time, coming to see many actors and actresses perform in the play of Romeo and Juliet. The theater can accommodate up to 1500 or more people, so every performance is in front of a huge audience. Many spectators can watch the show directly in front of the stage. To be precise, up to 3000 people can stay there. In the early years of the Globe Theatre, before central heating was introduced, audiences had to carry coats and scarves with them in winter, as this particular theater has an open roof. This meant that cold, biting air was let into the room. After years of cold nights, shows were moved to indoor theaters in the winter. The directors, however, tried to prevent this as much as possible, so they tried to fit as many performances as they could during the summer seasons. Central heating was installed during the construction of the New Globe Theatre. Therefore, future audiences could enjoy every Shakespearean performance, even during the winter. The Old Globe Theater also had limited artificial lighting, which was later changed, was made of high fire risk materials such as wood and had only one entrance/exit. Members of the public must also bring umbrellas or hats to suit the weather, as there is no roof to protect them from rain or sun. The Old Globe Theater had many rules, but most of them changed after it was destroyed in a fire in 1613. . One of the rules that changed dramatically was the system that...... middle of paper ......ry VIII. Not long after the cannon was fired, the thatched roof caught fire. It didn't take long to spread since the building was made of easily fireproof materials. The theater had to be demolished for health and safety reasons. However, it was rebuilt soon after, in the year 1614. But, in the year 1642, the Puritan Parliament passed an ordinance and closed the Globe Theatre. It was demolished in 1644. The site of the Old Globe Theater was rediscovered in the 20th century and began to be rebuilt as close to the site as possible. This is the theater that still exists today, which has been in operation and hosted many plays, including those written by Shakespeare. Overall, the Globe Theater has a lot of history behind it, which historians are still working on, and has had many demolitions and reconstructions in its time.
