When a person reads, they absorb the writing techniques of others, from sentence structure to knowing what elements to use to attract their readers. When I was first assigned my editorial, I struggled to develop an idea to write about, let alone construct it into 1000 words. I waited until late at night before the draft was due to construct my essay. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't my best work, and it's sad to look back on it as I felt passionate about the subject and knew I hadn't done it justice. I ultimately developed an argumentative essay that played toward the center of both opposing sides. When I went back to write the final draft I was determined to write something that clearly stated my position. I struggled for hours, thinking about how I could incorporate the advice given to me by both my professor and my fellow students. How could I impress them, influence them with my opinion and give them the push they needed to understand my position? Finally, with some internal thought, I realized that I had to write for myself too. I needed to find the solid reasons why my position was so important to me. Using this technique, I was finally able to develop the essay that would become my final editorial, which was, defiantly, one of the most difficult documents to write in this
