Mobile applications are designed to be used on smartphones, tablets and any other portable device. Mobile applications have become such a viral thing in today's century. Mobile communication has become so integrated into our lives that we would almost feel incomplete if we left our cell phones at home. When mobile apps were first created, there were only the basic applications of your software like calculator, calendar, and clock. The first mobile phone produced was the Motorola Brick, this phone was just a simple operating system while it was only used for calling and the only application was the contact list. In the 90s cell phones were monochrome with shades of gray and the resolution was very low. The screen size was small and had limited storage space and processing power. Operating systems like IOS, Windows, Android and Blackberry have taken the application to the next level. In the new millennium, mobile communication has undergone a completely new evolution in terms of phone applications and contents. Every smartphone created is typically aimed at each consumer, be it young adults, adults, entrepreneurs, etc. Studies show that young adults are the most likely to adopt smartphones with around 80% owning a smartphone. Even adults aged 65 and over have increasingly begun to prefer smartphones to regular cell phones. Companies like Blackberry, Apple, and Samsung target their products at young adults, adults, and entrepreneurs. These companies do this by adding features to the smartphone that consumers may need and want. In 2008, the Apple Store launched in July with 500 apps; in the same year Android launched 50 apps in October. The Windows Phone Marketplace launched in late October 2010. In conclusion, smartphones are such small devices, yet these small devices play such an important role in our lives today. People have become one with their smartphone due to their addiction to their smartphones. Without the invention of the telegraph, smartphones would not be what they are today.
