Taking Chances"Being adventurous means betting on the unknown, being willing to take a leap when you don't know if there's someone out to get you."--Unknown. This is one of my favorite quotes. He says if you want to be adventurous you have to take risks. This quote reminds me of a night I spent last summer. I was meeting up with some friends to go bowling, an exciting evening hosted by Matt, my boyfriend at the time. It was already eleven when we reached there. It was summer and we didn't know what day it was, so we didn't think in advance whether it would be open or not and just assumed that it would be. Well, we were wrong. So there we were, a beautiful summer night with nothing to do. Sitting on top of our cars we tried to think of some ideas of what we could do. “Let's go to the pool in the highlands gorge.” Matt suggested. His idea was quickly dismissed by one of his friends: "No, the water up there is quite cold, and besides, none of us have wetsuits." Cory said. Then it was my best friend, Ashley, who had a great idea: "Let's go see haunted houses." Everyone agreed on this, a night of excitement and adventure sounded like a lot of fun. The four of us got into Matt's jeep and set off. There are so many abandoned houses that were supposedly haunted in the small town we lived in. Of all the houses we visited that night, only one scared us the most. The story behind the first house was that a scientist had lived there a long time ago and had studied wildlife. The scientist was supposed to report all his findings to the nature reserve he worked for. When he stopped reporting everything to the reserve, they went up there to check the situation. They never found the scientist and the house remained abandoned. He is said to have gone completely mad living alone and eventually killed himself in the nearby woods. Gay story, anyway we went up there to check the situation. It looked pretty scary, I guess, but nothing disturbing happened, so we moved on to the next house. The second house we reached looked really scary. In front of him was a huge oak tree that shaded the house from the moonlight.
