ADVERTISING ANALYSIS'Fashioin Junkie'Brand: SisleyPublishing: 2007Advertising Agency: Zoo Advertising, Shanghai, ChinaCreative Director: Alex SeanCopywriter: Sandy SangPhotographer: TaurusSisley started their own clothing line in 1968. It was only in 1974, when the Benetton Group purchased the exclusive rights to use the name brand. Even though in 1985 Sisley had created an individual and unique personality within the Group. This disturbing advertisement attracted the attention of millions of viewers from all over the world. This form of shocking advertising fulfills the company's marketing objectives as this advertising "hits us in the face". This advertisement depicts two underage anorexic women "inhaling" a white dress, which resembles cocaine. A credit card with white powder on it is also displayed on the table in the dark room. The dark background also gives off the wrong vibes and suggests that the setting could be in a club. The objective of this print ad is to create awareness in our society, that nowadays we have all become "addicted" to fashion. We are always aware of what we wear at all times of the day or night. The target audience, young people, are obsessed with the clothing they wear. Even health is not considered as much as fashion sense is in today's world. It could also be said that this advert refers to the female gender, rather than the male gender, as women are known for their addiction to shopping, in order to integrate into society through their clothing. The advertising is pretty straightforward, as the term "fashoin" is used purposely to make it sound a little similar to cocaine. The models used in the advertisement, shown as anorexics, young girls in party dresses smelling that dress insinuated to be a drug, provide a n...... middle of paper ...... is very important. The method of using shocking advertising for such an ad is very useful, as people can realize and identify with the ad and change themselves for the better. It might change the audience's perspective and they might also understand and appreciate the objective of the ad. Therefore, although this advertisement may seem disconcerting at first, upon further judgment, its audience may accept it and its message may also be promoted.
