Topic > The government is doing enough about obesity - 923

About 2.8 billion adults die from obesity each year (Diet). Rachel Epstein wrote the book “Eating Habits and Disorders” in which she talks about obesity as a disease. Obesity is a condition characterized by excess body fat that often begins to form during childhood (Epstein 25). While obesity for some adults can be life-threatening (Epstein 25). It can also form psychosocial problems (Epstein 25). Being obese carries a risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, kidney problems, and more (Epstein 25). Being obese during pregnancy can cause many problems for the mother and baby (Epstein 25). Any of these things could cause many problems both in the future and in the present (Epstein 25). The worse the eating habits, the more difficult it is to cure them (Epstein 25). The government needs to do more against obesity because obesity rates are increasing, many children are victims of obesity and don't even know it, medical care is also playing an important role with the increase in obesity rates . Obesity is growing rapidly so we must act while we can. Portion sizes are becoming increasingly immense. An archived fact article titled "Diet, Nutrition and Wellness" discussed the growing problems caused by obesity. From going to McDonald's and having a happy meal, to riding the subway and taking a three-foot-long submarine. In any case, we are changing our diet to eat more than necessary, which ultimately adds a couple of kilos (Diet). People who go to restaurants daily end up eating about a thousand calories more per meal than some would (Diet). When most people go out to eat, even at a fancy restaurant, they don't care how many calories the meal contains, they order whatever tastes good to them (Diet). Every now and then is fine, but... halfway through the paper... it could be established. Spreading the word is key. Making a couple of posters and hanging them in schools, grocery stores, and even spreading the word from our local radio station could go a long way. Some people may not be immediately open to ideas, but if everyone works together, many great things will be accomplished. Works Cited Ambinder, Marc. "Defeating obesity."
