“First, research reveals that the prosecution and sentencing of sex trafficking crimes were predominantly based on pre-TVPA statutes even after the passage of the TVPA and subsequent laws of reauthorization". (Albonetti,201) It is difficult to establish whether this law actually works just as it is difficult to establish the victims of sex trafficking. If sanctions against sex traffickers/lawyers are not followed to the harshest extent, supply/demand will not decrease. However, there are programs to help victims of sex trafficking. Programs such as Creating Hope Through Awareness, Options, Services, and the Child and Youth Education Grant Program; (SNAP) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and others. “However, little is known about the extent to which child victims/survivors of sex trafficking access these services and benefits, and whether victims and service providers are aware of these programs.” (Finklea et al., 24) By making people more aware of what is happening around them, sufficient training for social workers and police officers would make a big difference in how these cases are handled and also in the lives of these children. Funding to help victims of trafficking and provide services to them is available. “DOJ funds have been used by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) to provide services to noncitizens and, beginning in fiscal year 2009, to
