Dworkin concluded that in fairy tales women rely on men and can achieve nothing without them. People found his writing to be overly biased, based on women being seen as property as it doesn't apply to modern times. However, in reality Dworkin's statement is true because not all women are independent. Some still depend on men in every aspect. For example, “fairy tales are the primary information about culture. They outline roles, interactions and values…” (page 34). This quote shows that fairy tales have a huge impact on identifying gender roles for women in today's society. These gender roles can mean many things to children and have led them to assume that women are needed for housework and pleasure. A woman today also worries about her beauty and having a man in her life. Society respects these roles to have a "happily ever after" similar to that of every fairy
