Cassandra was able to become a fluent reader because the teacher used guided reading, paired reading, and independent reading with Cassandra. Cassandra was able to make progress because she was influenced by practicing with books she knew and books she was not very familiar with. He also did activities that strengthened his reading, such as learning to blend words. The way Mrs. Perez worked with Cassandra really helped Cassandra at the end of May because Cassandra was able to use strategies when reading. For example, Cassandra was able to sound out words, self-correct while reading, and use picture clues to sound out words.
