Man, the most sociable creature, needs others to live. A student needs teachers to help him. Mathematics, for example, is an academic subject that students learn at school from their teacher. Students also learn other academic subjects from textbooks with teacher guidance with the intention of understanding the material. Students become better learners who acquire more knowledge when they receive help from a teacher. Athletes become better athletes through the guidance of their coaches. In the book Tuesday with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson tells the story of Morrie, a Brandeis University professor who retired due to Lou Gehrig's disease. Morrie mentions the importance of teachers as someone who guides other people in a better direction (Albom 65). Teachers do not have to be academic teachers. For me, my teacher is my nanny, Ekom, who guides me in the best direction. My nanny, who is in charge of the kitchen, taught me to disobey some rules in the kitchen. When making peanut paste, people in my country Indonesia always use food grinding. Food grinding in Indonesia carried out with a large stone and a pestle. People have put a lot of effort into making a good peanut paste that takes a little time and works to get smooth results. However, he prefers to use the blender which has a quicker and more choking consistency than grinding food. Sometimes it's better to disobey the rules to get better results. My nanny also told me about the culture of Bali, where she was born. Unlike the culture of other provinces in Indonesia, which has faded due to the influence of Westernization, Bali's culture remains strong. One of the cultures is that the Balinese use rice, raw rice, as prayer structures that are immersed in sandalwood water and then prayed to. Sometimes they might… halfway through the paper… they were done, but it was too late. Morrie's arrogance causes him to lose and he is unable to forgive Norman. Arrogance is the negative side of human pride and always has a negative impact on people's lives. Mak Ekom took care of me and guided me to be a better person. He taught me important things like how to live, how to distinguish other people and how to behave. He thought about everything in the simplest way, which was very easy for me to understand. Many of his tips have thought of cooking. Mak Ekom was the best nanny, chef and teacher. There is always someone who will guide other people. Sometimes people simply don't realize who the people who influence them are. Works CitedAlbom, Mitch. Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson.
