There are three pyramids of Giza, the first was commissioned in ancient Egypt by Pharaoh Khufu, around the year 2540 BC. They are located in Giza, Egypt, and take this name. At 488 feet tall, they were once the tallest buildings in the world, for many hundreds of years. The site is one of the most famous in the world and receives millions of tourists every year. The Pyramid of Giza is extremely significant due to its enormous size and the number of people needed to build it, along with the methods used to do so. The Pyramids of Giza are famous because they needed so many people and so much effort to build them. There have been many myths or misconceptions about who actually built the pyramids, and there are conflicting opinions. Recent studies say they were built by 10,000 workers, not 100,000, and the workers were not actually slaves of the pharaoh, but skilled, mostly Egyptian wage workers. For a long time it was believed that it was slave labor, but after many investigations new conclusions were reached and it was not considered possible that it was slave labor. They all lived near the construction site, in a temporary village created mainly for the workers, where they could stay and easily access the Pyramids. This village was a very organized community, and almost like him a real village, with businesses and houses. It would have been a comfortable residence for all the workers, but they had a life of constant toil.
