IntroductionSomalia has been affected by drought for many years. A drought is basically a long period of time with little or no rainfall leading to a shortage of water in the country. This can have a huge impact on people and the economy. There are many possible changes that can lead to drought, for example, climate change, population growth, unequal distribution of water resources, urbanization and much more. I will mainly focus on the effects of the drought in Somalia on the population.Article ReviewArticle Review 1Somalia: Drought Affects Thousands of People in SomalilandThe drought currently affecting Somalia is no ordinary drought. It's the worst in 36 years. In other places in Somalia it hasn't rained for nine months. The grass has been destroyed, cattle and goats are dying in large numbers. Since the animals are not buried, their carcasses lie everywhere, even on the roads. River beds are slowly drying up. Many people depend on livestock and vegetation to survive. People are now malnourished since they decide to take the food they would have eaten and feed it to cattle and goats. Some who cannot even afford their own food eventually take grass from their roofs to feed cows, thus leaving people to live in adequate shelters.Review of Article 2“Horn of Africa records worst drought in recent memory 60 years”. Drought is one of them. you might not even notice natural disasters that develop slowly. Droughts tend to last a long time. Compared to other natural disasters, droughts, unlike earthquakes or cyclones, where they have an exact time or date. This makes it difficult to know the exact time the drought began or ended. Drought kills more people while floods affect more people. 22 million people die during the year 1960-20... middle of paper... high evaporation rates leading to drying up of the earth. Because the land heats up more quickly and takes a long time to cool, this can cause problems for farmers who may be planting crops at specific temperatures. Conclusion In the previous articles it is clearly stated that a drought has a huge impact on people and it is well explained giving us a real and constant vision of how climate change can lead to drastic problems that cannot be solved easily. The lack of rainfall has a great impact on people which then has a ripple effect that makes the entire population and the country suffer. There is not much that can be done to stop this unpredictable, long-lasting natural disaster. All of this is a result of climate change which can be caused by global warming leading to the thinning of the ozone layer which can play a role in seasonal changes. Indeed, the drought has greatly affected the people of Somalia.
