Choosing between a public or private school for your education is as important as deciding where to invest your hard-earned money: the consequences will affect your life forever. In the United States it is the law that every child receives an education. However, the decision on where to go for one's education is up to each individual. There's a lot of debate about which option is better: for-profit private schools or your local public school. Ultimately, the decision is made based on the individual student's needs and abilities; but if there is an opportunity, attending a private school is more advantageous. Private schools offer better quality of education than public schools. Distinguished former and current alumni, specialized curriculum, as well as dedicated teachers and school pride make this possible. One of the most important attributes of any school is the people, both students and teachers, who are part of it, and this is one of the main factors supporting private schools. Students from any community can attend private, for-profit schools. These academies do not limit pupils to a particular city or district like public schools. Because of this, students meet many new colleagues that they would not otherwise have met and therefore see new perspectives. The best way to learn about something is to listen to those who have already experienced it. Many former students who graduated from various private schools have become successful. One scholar who has studied the topic stated: “It is no coincidence that politicians, athletes, journalists and judges come from private schools” (GIC Database 1).
