Choosing the right career can be difficult for some. There are many things that someone should look into when trying to choose the perfect profession. A person needs to look at the profession and see if it suits his or her skills well. Do they also appreciate the compensation and tasks of the job? Luckily for my school I had to take a mandatory course that helped me choose the right technical program that led me to the perfect job for me. The marine technician career is the best fit due to its salary, job availability, daily tasks as a technician, and the training it offers because they all apply to my hobbies and interests. The salary of a marine technician will be quite satisfactory for me. Living in Washington State the income should be enough for me to enjoy myself and have a sustainable life. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Arlington, WA is one of the highest-paying metropolitan areas, averaging approximately $22.36 per hour and earning approximately $46,500 per year (U.S. Department of Labor). This means I should probably look for a job preferably in the Arlington area. However, this is not even close to the actual overall average salary. As discussed by CareerOneStop, Washington State's overall average pay is approximately $17.85 per hour and $37,100 per year (America's Career InfoNet). Even though it may not be that much, I will still do something that I enjoy so much. This is actually a higher average salary than the entire US average which, according to CareerOneStop, is approximately $35,500 per year (America's Career InfoNet). I hope that when I start I will do between these two numbers. So for this profession the salary should be a sustainable amount to allow me to enjoy life. The availability of work in this profession appears to be increasing slightly in the near future. Job availability in this field does not appear to be very high in Washington State.
