Discrimination is defined as negative attitudes or behaviors between people with differences. Opponents often label each other with spiteful words. However, religious discrimination can lead to violence. Many times religious discrimination can cause judgment at work, limited educational opportunities, and restrictive social interaction. Over the centuries, Judaism, Catholicism and Islam have been negatively persecuted by numerous communities. Religious discrimination has hindered the right and ability of Jews, Catholics, and Muslims to practice their religious freedom rights around the world. One of the most horrific examples of discrimination stemmed from discrimination against Jews and was called The Holocaust. Catholics have been denied presidential positions simply because they are Catholic. Islams have been accused of being terrorists even though many are kind and loving people. All religious groups have suffered many horrific incidents in which people of these religions have been deprived of the right to practice religion freely. Discrimination against Judaism limits the ability of Jews to practice freedom of religion. At one point in the nineteenth century, Jews were seen as a “'race,' which not even baptism could change.” This idea led to the largest religious massacre ever. It is known as the massacre or the Holocaust. It all began when anti-Semites (people opposed to the religion of Judaism) “used Jews as a screen to project their own anxieties” (“Anti-Semitism.” 1). The frightening thoughts spread and eventually reached Adolf Hitler, who wrote a book expressing his thoughts about the Jews.
