For the critical test assignment I choose the Benchmark Evaluation Test for 4th grade. I think it's a great resource to know how my bilingual students do compared to other fourth graders or even compare them to national and state scores. The benchmark assessment test is not an option, all students in grades 3 through 8 who take the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) must take the benchmark assessment test. The primary purpose of the Math and Reading Benchmark Assessment Test is instructional improvement and not accountability. The Bench Mark Assessment Test was developed to help teachers measure students' strengths and weaknesses at end of each academic year. The Bench Mark Assessment provides teachers with feedback on student progress toward state standards. It also provides schools with information about the strengths and weaknesses on the math, reading and science standards at each grade level. Benchmark ratings are based on each individual state's standards. It is important for schools to know how students measure up on national and state standardized tests. Benchmark ratings can also provide valuable information for making the right decisions. For example, it provides teachers and school administrators with valuable information about students' actual knowledge. It also examines classroom performance and teacher education. Additionally, Bench Mark Assessment scores show how they could be used to improve academic instruction. However, it was not useful in my fourth grade classroom, because there are different academic levels. Ranges from second to third grade, none of my studies... half of the paper... with appropriate bilingual curriculum and standards. For example, the native language is used at least 50% of the time and must be used for the entire academic year. These scenarios make it very difficult to meet the expectations of the standards measured in the benchmark assessment test because traditional bilingual programs must divide language instruction into either percentage Spanish or English. Then the validity and reliability of the Benchmark Assessment are affected and the data are used to monitor the progress of the failure of the bilingual groups. In conclusion, the Benchmark Assessment test affects the programs of language students or schools that serve the population in which the students are located. learn a new language. It is challenging for the bilingual program to meet the expectations of the learning standards measured in the benchmark assessment test.
