Topic > My Interest in Education and Business - 873

Throughout my life, my aspiration in terms of career prospects has been shared by both education and business. The allure of a degree in education for me is the prospect of one day stimulating the minds of young people and becoming an influential figure in their lives. In truth, I believe that a degree in Education will allow me to explore all aspects of the educational field and provide me with a great foundation for a career in teaching. In my current advanced level subjects I consider business studies to be my forte, and this is supported by studies in Media, Sociology and History. The topic allows me to apply the theory to real life situations, such as the theory of price elasticity in the consumer market. I also believe that a degree in this subject will allow me to investigate business in depth, gain valuable work experience and gain vital skills that I will be able to apply in the world of work. My current Advanced level studies are very demanding, but they are the most useful academic programs I have taken part in. I enjoy classroom teaching in a lecture-style environment, but I also get personal satisfaction from doing independent research and adding my opinions to assigned assignments. I recently enjoyed analyzing the relative success and criticism of the national curriculum in Sociology, which included analysis of evidence from theorists such as Denis Lawton. I also derived considerable satisfaction from studying the entire Business course and researching different means of obtaining information regarding the world of business on a daily basis. I consider this process of independent learning to be very beneficial and it is a feature of university study that best suits me. In addition to my compulsory education programme, I regularly involve myself in extracurricular activities. I participated in the Young Enterprise project for which I was elected Deputy CEO and Financial Manager. This was a very challenging activity that taught me the skills of dedication, motivation, teamwork and respect for time for a business to run successfully. In all of my educational institutions, I have been honored with roles that carry with them a high degree of responsibility and pride. In my final year of high school, I was appointed peer counselor for lower school pupils, special needs assistant for children with difficulties in English, mathematics and ICT, and I was also appointed year representative and prefect of my year..
