Does the use of fur in fashion have to stop or does the fur trade fill a need? Fur is the oldest form of clothing and has been worn by humans for various reasons throughout history; its natural appearance, texture, fashion, color and snow does not melt during outdoor activities. So is it necessary to stop the use of fur? The answer is yes, it is unethical and it is cruelty to animals and there is no reasonable justification. Fur is the oldest form of clothing and has been worn by humans for various reasons throughout history. Fur has been used by humans as clothing since ancient times to protect themselves from climatic conditions. They have remained popular over the years due to their warmth, durability, texture and high-class status. For the first few centuries, the middle classes in Western Europe and North America developed an interested use of fur as a fashion statement as a way to express their status, symbolism, or to give themselves a modern, sophisticated appearance. Over the centuries, animal fur fortunes have been amassed through the exploitation of animal fur to meet human needs. Every year, countless animals are killed around the world for their fur. The most common are minks. However, the victims are also foxes, chinchillas, rabbits, even dogs and other animals. In 2013, animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) released shocking footage from a Chinese angora fur farm of a defenseless rabbit being held down while its fur was stripped alive from its skin to make wearable fabrics.
