Relationship between consumerism and socioeconomicsThere have been numerous individuals living in a contemporary consumer society. These topics mainly concern the accumulation of goods by consumers and its negative effects on sustainability. Sustainability covers all vital issues of contemporary society problems. For example, climate change, global warming, disputes between countries and consumerism. There are many solutions to prevent catastrophes related to these problems, but one of these is linked to this century, that is, to the relationship between consumerism and socioeconomics. Although it has been argued that consumerism has some benefits, it is harmful because it leads people to live a solitary lifestyle, causes chronic economic crises, and individuals could be victims of the capitalist lifestyle that promotes pure greed. One of the most significant reasons regarding consumerism is that it leads people to live a solitary lifestyle. Initially, there is plenty of scientific evidence that shows why materialism causes people to live alone. First of all, there was some research on this, which examined the connection between the dynamics of materialism and loneliness by some scientists. The result is that materialism contributes to the solitary lifestyle; furthermore, it differs between particular subtypes of materialism (PIETERS, 2013). For example, possessions that are valuable to humans such as iPods, laptops, computer games lead to loneliness, because they spend their time on them more than social activities such as interacting with others or having fun outdoors. Therefore, people need to improve their communication skills to prevent loneliness. Secondly, in consumption… middle of paper… in the capitalist lifestyle because of their sheer greed. Despite all these negative problems, people must keep their hopes. Works Cited Raibley J. (2014) Virtue of Selfishness. The Atlas Society http://www.atlassociety.org/virtue-selfishness Thompson J.
