Theatre was an important part of ancient Greek civilization. The history of Greek theater began with religious festivals that aimed to honor Dionysus, a god. During the festivals some citizens sing songs and perform improvisational performances, and other festival participants judge these performances to decide which of them was the best. These works form the basis of the Greek Theater. Due to the competition between artists to create the best performances, plays have gained an aesthetic perspective and become an art form. Thus, theater as part of religious rituals attracted people's attention and gained importance in Ancient Greek society. This article aims to study two important playwrights, Sophocles and Euripides, and compare their respective attitudes by examining their works with respect to plot and character. structures. To achieve this objective the document is organized into two main sections. In the first section we provide a brief biography of both Sophocles and Euripides. The second and final section includes summaries of Sophocles' Electra and Euripides' Electra which were based on the same essential principles and provide an opportunity to observe the playwrights' differences. This section also includes comparisons made from our observations of plays. Information about the lives of Sophocles and Euripides is very limited and difficult to verify. However, many sources agree regarding the following information about their biographies. Sophocles was born in 497 or 496 BC in Colonus Hippios, now part of Athens. His father was a wealthy merchant and arms manufacturer and an important figure in their society.
