Society allows the individual to achieve his goals and desires that he could not have achieved alone. A society can be defined by its political structure. Society offers the individual the opportunity to choose the type of politics in which he is willing to engage. The political structure within society depends on the individual's understanding of politics and his or her willingness to engage in politics. The political structure defines the legal and governance system of the society. Statutory, customary and common laws arise due to political structure. Therefore, through society, the individual is provided with a governing body that directs society in achieving its goals. The political structure within the society ensures that the individual has a well-defined system for dealing with issues related to the society. The governing body of the society addresses the relationship between that particular society and neighboring societies to ensure that the individual is protected from political attacks from neighboring societies or other anti-social behavior.
