California is experiencing the worst drought it has faced in decades. It's not just the lack of rain we had last year, but also the mismanagement of our water resources that makes the drought worse. The simple idea of running out of water is not to be taken lightly, only a small amount on our planet is safe for human consumption; With this in mind, Californians face the need to rationalize water to address the concurrent crisis. Practicing rationing will help maintain water levels. The expected result of this disaster is water shortages and severe agricultural impacts across our state. The public must realize the need to start saving water. A major game changer that can make the most of the dire water scarcity California faces, but the key strategy is surviving this natural phenomenon. The scorching heat we are facing in areas of California shows that the drought will likely last longer than we might expect. This year is becoming the driest year in California, reaching record low water storage levels across the state. Robin Wilkey, editor of the Huffington Post, points out, in “California has its driest year ever — and it could get worse”; Drought is a serious threat to California, as Robin states: “2013 was the driest year since the state began measuring precipitation in 1849” (para. 3). California residents are expected to suffer the consequences in due course if a plan is not developed accordingly.
