Topic > The benefits of sustainability on the natural environment

Everything we need for our survival and well-being depends directly or indirectly on our natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains conditions in which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony (Environmental Protection Agency, 2005). It is development aimed at maintaining or sustaining conditions in order to provide better long-term economic health and a stable social and cultural quality system, as well as to preserve or protect the environment (Goldie, 2005). Being sustainable and saving energy brings enormous economic benefits. The economic benefits of being sustainable to the local community make being sustainable a much better and more economical choice than most of the practices we use now. In terms of local businesses, you can save huge amounts of money by being sustainable and using resources like energy and water more. efficiently. Companies often lose huge amounts of money every year due to poor use of their resources, which could be avoided if companies made simple changes to improve sustainability (Hannah Barker, 2012). While it is easier for large companies to implement environmental initiatives to become sustainable, smaller businesses and companies find it more difficult due to costs. But it is proven that being sustainable will save companies and businesses money in the long run and cover all the costs used to start sustainable practices. In addition to saving money through effective use of resources, being sustainable also gives a company a positive reputation, thus attracting customers. People living in the community can do simple things like setting their home's thermostat a few degrees lower, which will save the community to a large extent on energy costs. Community members take shorter showers, cut…half the paper…at work. Accessing the resources was not very difficult because there were staff in the library who could help us find many great resources from the library website. For example, we were able to access and obtain good quality journal articles by searching with EBSCOhost and Scopus, however further information was obtained via online websites, newspapers, YouTube and also government publications. Our group relied heavily on and used the group blog, which really helped us communicate ideas and showcase our work when we were between meetings. The group wiki was also created, which was very useful for sharing our work and allowing others to add their ideas and add things that everyone thought were important. Overall our group achieved the assigned tasks, with some challenges but none that could not be overcome through communication and understanding.
