INTRODUCTION“A woman is the complete Circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” - Diane Mariechild The role of women can aptly be described as “multidimensional”. A woman must be a daughter, wife, mother and professional at the same time. Today, the importance of women is gaining speed in the world of work. But the inappropriate concept about women that “women are governed by the heart, not by the head” limits credit to women for their contributions to economic success. A decade ago, women were not welcome in top corporate positions. houses. To reach the top positions they have to overcome many obstacles. Time and again, women have overcome obstacles, proven their mettle and gloriously hold the most important positions. Let's talk about Sheryl Sandburgs and Marissa Meyers or India's most prominent women like Chanda Kochhar or Vinita Bali, women have whitewashed the former "men-only" fortresses. Figure 1. Women in senior management Source: Grant Thornton International Business Report 2013 In India , working women face many challenges to demonstrate their contribution to the economy. Men's attitude and mindset towards women in the workplace have not changed. Women and men have different managerial skills. People normally believe that women have poor management skills. But the truth is that women have logical skills, but are weak in managing stress. LITERATURE REVIEW In an attempt to complete my research on "Women in the Corporate Sector: A Realistic View", the following research papers, articles, excerpts and case studies have been prepared out of which:• Women in the Indian Sector of Information Technology (IT): A Sociological Analysis by Asmita Bhattacharyya and Dr. Bhola ...... focus of the paper ...... to Sharma, MD and CEO of Axis Bank; Vinita Singhania, MD of JK Lakshmi Cement; Dr. Preetha Reddy, MD of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise; Irmgard Velagapudi M Rao, Managing Director, KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation; Anita Arjundas, MD & CEO, Mahindra Lifespace Developers; Renu Sud Karnad, MD of HDFC; Rajshree Pathy, CMD of Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals in the private sector and Naina Lal Kidwai, Group Managing Director and Country Head of HSBC India; Kalpana Morparia; CEO of JP Morgan India in foreign banks in India. Current Statistics on Working Women While there are many women holding top positions in the corporate world, that doesn't mean the reality of working women is the same. People say the concept of glass ceiling has disappeared, it's a myth. No, it still exists in one form or another.
