Students are becoming smarter at younger ages, and student academic performance is surpassing that of more than three decades ago. But what about students who don't learn as quickly? They are left behind. According to David Brooks, in a New York Times article, “many of the people who don't fit in are boys” (43). Some children simply cannot pay attention, or the information is not displayed correctly; boys in particular. Many studies have shown that boys learn at slower rates than girls and I think our education system needs to be aware of this growing problem and make changes. Educators must adapt to this by teaching students, especially boys, on an individual level. One way to achieve this is to move to single-gender classes.
