Ted Bundy was a brilliant man and a master of manipulation. Ted Bundy was the ultimate criminal mastermind, but he was extremely selfish and ultimately let it get the better of him. Bundy was born on November 24, 1946 in Vermont to his unmarried mother Eleanor Louise Cowell, and grew up believing that his grandparents, Samuel and Eleanor Cowell, were his parents. Bundy did not blame his home life for his murders, because he believed his home life was "normal", and instead blamed pornography as the root of his murders (forerunner.com). Louise Cowell, gave birth to Ted at 22 years old. years old and was not married. Having a child before marriage was extremely frowned upon during the time she gave birth. “To save her from the scrutiny and criticism of people in town, her parents told people that they had adopted Ted and raised him to believe that they were his biological parents and his mother was his sister” (crimemagazine.com). In 1947, Ted discovered the truth about his biological parents (imb.com). Ted Bundy was actually born "Theodore Robert Cowell". His mother married Johnnie Culpepper Bundy, an army cook, and Ted took his stepfather's last name. (thebiographychannel.co.uk). Ted Bundy's stepfather made many attempts to bond with him, but Ted preferred to spend time alone. Ted became increasingly accustomed to spending time alone and became socially awkward, which even led his middle school classmates to tease him (crimelibrary.com). Throughout his school years, Ted managed to consistently stay ahead of the curve. his schoolwork, and in high school he discovered a great interest in politics.
