Windows and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar in many ways. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for its time. People used to use the command line interface to type commands. Windows 1.0 allowed them to simply point and click whatever they wanted. Then, a few years later, Linux arrived. Linux was revolutionary because it was similar to Unix and was open source. Open source meant that anyone could access the source code to customize it to their liking. This has since allowed multiple different versions of Linux to be produced, including one called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what you would expect from the name. It's a version of Linux that looks and behaves exactly like a modern version of Windows. At first, the two operating systems promised a better future for computing. However, one of them grew exponentially while the other was ignored. Windows became the world's leading operating system in the blink of an eye. It was created by Microsoft with the logo represented by a window colored with red, green, blue and yellow colors. It offered a friendly point-and-click interface that was completely different from the time period, so it kept innovating on it. Windows now has the largest selection of software designed to satisfy the greatest number of end users. Along with the largest selection of software is the largest selection of games with most games only available for Windows. When purchased, most devices also come preloaded with a Windows operating system. About “1.3 billion people use Windows every day” (“Microsoft by the Numbers”) to get things done.
