The American dream is based on the drive to succeed in life. It is a social ideal that having both liberty and freedom includes opportunities for prosperity and success in America. America is the land of opportunity. We are the home of liberty and freedom. Any man, immigrant or native, all want the same thing. This is making money. The reason why I put so much emphasis on the man is that during this time in America the American dream was emphasized more, it was during the period of industrialization. During this period, a man would like to have a good job and make money to support his family and home. A poor boy who lived in the slums would like to work hard and have perseverance to build from the bottom and turn the dream into reality. Three men who come to mind who worked hard to achieve the American Dream would be Benjamin Franklin, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie. These three men all came from poor backgrounds. They worked from the bottom to build their careers and even helped American society by influencing technological progress. They buried their heads in books and read everything they could to improve themselves. These men not only created a huge impact in technology, but also built the standard for people to live the American dream. These three men showed me that I can reach the top of my dreams and goals from the bottom. For every American, achieving the American dream is the best goal to achieve. Benjamin Franklin was the best philosopher, inventor, politician, scientist, business strategist, diplomat, writer and one of the founding fathers of America. He rose from the poor middle class and still had a huge impact on American society. One... half of the paper... yes. These three men read book after book and further educated themselves to achieve their goals and dreams even when people never thought it would be possible. Benjamin Franklin did not need to go to college to influence and educate the public with his writings. Henry Ford made it possible for average people to get around in their own vehicle. Andrew Carnegie used his success and money to influence others. These three men showed me the drive, the aggression, the love with which they built their careers. To have the American dream you have to want it and never stop fighting to get it. Works Cited Curcio, Vincent. Henry Ford. New York: Oxford UP, 2013. Print Isaacson, Walter.
