1. The turn of the century brought the World Wide Web into homes around the world, and along with all the amazing features it has, it also created a place for people to bring their sick fantasies to life. Armin Meiwes from Essen, western Germany, created an online chat room called Cannibal Café. Meiwes was looking for a male between the ages of 18 and 30 who would allow Meiwes to kill and eat him. Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes responded to the advertisement that Meiwes had proposed to him and met him. Brandes arrived at the house where Meiwes would kill him in a room created to be his slaughterhouse. Meiwes is said to have never forced anything and only acted with Brandes' permission. Once Brandes died, Meiwes hung him on a butcher's hook and ate the body over the next 10 months, freezing the parts in the freezer next to pizza boxes. In December 2002, a university student noticed Meiwes's ad and reported it to the authorities. Meiwes would be convicted of manslaughter and then tried for murder in 2006; he is currently serving a life sentence.2. Once an adult, it is reasonable to believe that an adult should know the difference between wrong and right actions. Human beings are given the will to make choices, and not just to act by becoming extinct. An adult human being is legally given more freedom than a teenager, but there are still limits that some want to cross. In Meiwes' case, the actions taken by both him and Brandes are supposed to be the result of some sort of sick psychological state of mind that does not follow the proper functioning of a human being. However, being human beings, and particularly adult human beings, it would seem that the activities in which they engage need not be limited, as long as this provides some sort of... middle of paper.... ..d would not always be the best way since a maxim could be implied in the universe differently if desired.5. Meiwes should be in prison for killing another human being, but should not serve a life sentence. Although Meiwes committed murder, he did so only with Brandes' express consent. If Meiwes had done this action without any consent, he would obviously have been sentenced to life imprisonment and would have been classified as a monster. However, Meiwes fulfilled his wish responsibly, ensuring that the actions he was taking part in were also desired by Brandes. Although Meiwes does not function properly, he is still a human being with desires, and whether his desires are acceptable to humans or not, the universe should find a way to accept all people and help deflect those like Meiwes from the mentality that he is, so that he can act more adequately in the world.
