When he began his political career, he was elected to the House of Representatives in a strongly Democratic country, even though he was a Republican. People voted for him because of his good personality and he was respected even by opposing politicians. Before that, McKinley was a soldier in the Civil War. The civil war alone was a terrible experience, but the sadness of his assassination was terrible. As President McKinley shook hands with supporters, Leon Czolgosz prepared to do something that would shake America. When McKinley reached out to shake Czolgosz's hand, he fired two bullets, one deflected... into the center of the card... omach. Initially, doctors thought McKinley would recover from his injury. After a couple of days he was able to sit up and take food and liquids for the first time. But a couple of days later, McKinley went into decline. Doctors realized that the president's pancreas had been partially destroyed. On September 14, 1901, William McKinley died. William McKinley had a great life from birth to death. His beautiful personality made him a beloved politician. William McKinley's life will always be remembered, and his legacy in the White House will not be forgotten. Bibliography Feinstein, Stephen.
