As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said: “We must simply do everything in our power to slow global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over” (Schwarzenegger, par.9). Has our society really made an effort to prevent global warming from evolving into a bigger disaster than what has already happened or do people sit back and let things unfold similar to a series of unfortunate events? Andrew C. Revkin, author of “Global Warming Is Eroding Glacial Ice,” believes the root cause of global warming is largely due to human activity. Revkin says water glaciers are disappearing, which is having an overall negative impact on global warming. He believes that melting trends are showing a negative effect on the environment and that people's ignorance about hydropower is leading to future water shortages, which will accelerate the global warming process in the long term (344). In opposition, Philip Stott, the author of “Global Warming Is Not a Threat to Polar Ice,” begs to differ and believes that people cannot simply blame humans alone for the cause of global warming, but that both greenhouse gases and natural changes in the environment are the main causes of an ice age. The ice age is approaching sooner or later! Even though people believe that global warming should be a concern, Stott argues that people are far from being affected by global warming because in reality the ice sheets are getting thicker and not thinner, plus there has been a change in the colder climate that is influencing global warming. of the environment as a whole, and that the production of greenhouse gases does not contribute to global warming, but instead leads the world into the next glacial period (Stott 346)....... middle of paper... happens given that the Our environment has led to its current phase ultimately due to the changes that have affected the world. Ultimately he asks which ultimatum people would prefer to choose if they could choose between a warmer or a colder world. I guess the real question is: what would you prefer?
