Mother, I thought. My beautiful, loving mother passed away just a few months ago. Since she died, I haven't been able to sleep well. I rolled back and forth in my rough bed and sometimes stopped to stare at the dismal ceiling. Every time my father spoke, I could tell he was trying to hide all his painful feelings. But I knew that he, deep down, could no more bear this gruesome tragedy than anyone else. Dad told me that seeing me unhappy and broken made him nervous. He said he wanted us both to take a step out of our pitiful misery. That's why my dear father took me to this wonderful country called Indonesia, a country dotted with beautiful beaches made of sparkling, rolling water that sparkles in the morning light and full of little children who are always so cheerful. "Father!" I exclaimed angrily as I ferociously jumped out of our rented SUV which was now parked in front of a golden beach. "I'm so tired from our long trip here. Could you buy me some ice cream, please?" I knew that even my convincing father would undoubtedly be exhausted. Nonetheless, I tried. "Of course Karl," she replied as her smooth voice flowed like a steady river. I had my father's dominant brown eyes. He was tall and strong just like a soldier. Every child would dream of being his son. He continued: "What kind? There are a lot of interesting types here." Suddenly, I saw a wave of sadness slowly creep into his eyes. Maybe he doesn't want to leave me, I thought. I didn't know why, but I knew what I had to do. "No!" I shouted. "Please don't go. I'm not interested in stupid ice cream!" “Karl,” Dad continued. "It's just an ice cream. Here, I'll get you your favorite, chocolate with some sprinkles on top. I... halfway through the paper... I repressed the pain that attacked me when I met the tearful eyes of the children. I held back the pain with all my strength until I met the eyes of a cheerful boy. I ran with all my strength, I wanted to breathe. The delicious gust of wind that touched my face thrilled me. I took a deep breath and I lunged at Karl. I nudged my head into baby Karl's shoulder and he was crying on his back, mumbling every single thought in his head. "They saved me, Daddy, they." and wiped away some tears that rolled down her cheeks. "I'm sorry I left you on the beach." "It wasn't you who left me, it was me. Please, please forgive me." I begged, holding Karl's hands. "Also promise me that we will never be separated again." "I promise."."
