2.7 The stage of demonstration technique Miller and Stoeckel (2011:299) suggested that there are three stages in performing demonstration, which are as follows :to. Pre-demonstration phaseThis phase is also called preparation phases, the teacher must prepare everything to be able to conduct the demonstration, namely:1. Access customer needs and identify student objective. In this case students have problems reading. Then the teacher must formulate the objectives that the student must achieve once the demonstration process is completed. The goal is to help students understand what has been demonstrated.2. Gather essential supplies and equipment. This point asks the teacher to prepare all the things used for the demonstration and also the steps of the demonstration.3. Become familiar with the procedure. This point means that teachers should first try to practice the material that will be demonstrated.b. Demonstration Phase This phase is related to the implementation of the demonstration. There are some points that should be considered at this stage, such as the following:1. Make sure students can see and hear. It means that the teacher must put the classroom in good order to make the students follow the demonstration clearly.2. Inform students about the goal and purpose.3. Provide comments on the procedure.4. Clarify and repeat the demonstration as necessary.c. Post-Demonstration PhaseThis phase explains the activities after the demonstration process, which are as follows:1. Provide time for questions and discussion.2. Provide possible time for practice.3. Limit the time to 20 minutes2.8 Real things as teaching aidsAccording to Herrel and Jordan (2011:23), real things...... in the center of the paper...... rest. It is used to know the feedback of the students after the demonstration conducted. Richters (2009:7) adds that the purpose of post-reading activities is to monitor students' understanding of the text. In this research, the post-reading activities are:1. Review of the material discussed.2. Guide students to draw a conclusion.2.10 Action HypothesisBased on the review of relevant literature, the action hypothesis of this action research can be formulated below:1. The use of demonstration technique with real objects can improve the active participation of grade X4 students in the learning process at SMA Negeri Rambipuji Jember in the academic year 2013/2014.2.
