Efficient lightingIntroduction: Many electric light bulbs have been produced in the world, all using different amounts of electricity, some better than others. Today we can choose from many, but it all began with the first electric light bulb invented by Humphry Davy in 1800. Since then many others have been created and today we can use light in the best possible way. glass enclosure that provides light by passing an electric current through a filament. The filament creates the energy that causes light to manifest. Light bulbs are used daily in nearly every room and building in the United States. They are essential for our daily uses. We use extreme amounts of energy every day to keep our homes lit. Problem: Today we are faced with many choices of light bulbs and we would all like to spend money on the amount of energy we used. “Electric lighting consumes up to 25% of the average home's energy budget.” Which light bulbs are best to buy to save the greatest amount of electricity we use every day? We are given too many options, how do we know which is best? There are hundreds of different bulbs that we can buy, there are 271 results just for LED bulb and this is just one type of bulb.Type of bulbs:1. Incandescent bulbs: These bulbs have a very thin tungsten filament. The filament is what gets very hot due to the electricity passing through it. The heat produced creates “white” energy, i.e. visible light. The problem with these bulbs, though, is that the heat wastes a lot of electricity. The incandescent bulb produces 15 lumens per watt of input power. This light bulb was made in 1802 and still used today. Its use has both advantages and disadvantages. Great for small areas, like the center of the paper. If so, then why aren't they the most commonly used lights today? The answer to this question is that the cost of LED bulbs is not economically sustainable for more people. Incandescent light bulbs have been around for a long time because they work and are cheap. They get the job done, but are more efficient. For most people, efficiency is not the primary concern. Therefore, today there is still a large variety of bulbs purchased and which of them is their preference.
