Topic > How it all began with Valeria from Lithuania

Part One: The BeginningsA young thirteen-year-old girl finds herself on a frozen ship surrounded by strangers. Sitting alone without family. He thinks back to the family he is leaving behind, headed for a new life far away. This young girl is my great-grandmother Valeria Zableckis. He left his home in Lithuania to come to the United States. I don't know much about her yet, but I'm excited to explore her past. Valeria Zableckis. I only found out about her a few days ago and yet she already intrigued me. I want to know why he left Lithuania. I would love to find out what it was like to adapt to a new country. Mostly, though, I want to know what challenges he faced. I am excited to begin researching my ancestors. Part two: processes and discoveries One day I decided to bring this project to my table. I asked my family “Who can I do a research paper on?” They gave several answers, but none of them seemed right to me. Some were long gone and no one knew, while others seemed to have done nothing that would affect my life. Then, a few nights later, my father suggested my great-great-grandmother, Valeria Zableckis. She explained how she emigrated here from Lithuania. He seemed like a really interesting person! "Yes! Finally! Thank God!”On February 21, 2014, I conducted my Skype interview with my grandmother on Valeria. What he knew about Valeria was incredible! My grandmother had all these fascinating stories about her. She said: "Valeria was the eldest of thirteen children and when she was thirteen she was sent to the United States to work for another aunt and uncle." (Zableckis, Marcia). This made me realize how difficult it must have been for her to travel here alone at such a young age....... middle of paper....... .• Immigration Information Process at Ellis IslandZableckis, Al.
