Countries all over the world have some kind of human trafficking. Human trafficking has many variations and is a serious crime. There is prostitution, sexual exploitation, forced labor, forms of slavery and the sale of body parts (Human Trafficking, UNOCD). This is a critical destruction of human rights. People are vulnerable if forced to commit this crime. How is the act of trafficking committed? You may recruit, transport, harbor, kidnap, pressure, or defraud someone into doing something they are not willing to do of their own choosing (human trafficking, UNODC). This is a serious crime and most of society despises people who engage in human trafficking. This is immoral for most people and they do not strive to participate in this crime. The company believes this is degrading to the community. Despite all the stigma of this crime, this still happens on a daily basis. This is because sometimes people look away so as not to be involved in such humiliating acts towards other human beings. They will continue to say that if you don't deal with it maybe it will disappear, believing that all human beings want to live up to the control or morals that society has established. Friedrichs, Walsh, and Hemens wrote in Law and Society that social control is “…any action, whether deliberate or unconscious, that influences conduct toward conformity, whether or not the people affected are aware of the process” (Friedrichs, Walsh, and Hemens, p. 116). The word control can be used as a noun or verb and its meanings literally mean to force you to do something (Friedrichs et al., p. 116). Friedrichs, Walsh, and Hemens state that “…social control is a much broader concept than law because there are other informal mechanisms of…middle of paper…way in which human trafficking is viewed. Not only has the law changed, but also the way society views human trafficking. There are both negative and positive social control mechanisms regarding human trafficking. Social control over human trafficking will determine whether society will collapse or succeed. It is hoped that social control will allow human trafficking to collapse. Human trafficking is becoming a major problem and we, as human beings, must address it, because every human being should have the fundamental right to be free! Works Cited Friedrichs, D.
