Rural tourism is any form of tourism that takes place in rural areas and exposes tourists to country life, art, culture, religion and all which is related to rural life on both natural and cultural activities. This offers the local community the opportunity to develop an economic status, while tourists have the opportunity to escape the city to a peaceful environment. The activities generated in rural tourism include gastronomic tourism, argo tourism, health and wellness tourism, sports tourism, heritage tourism, etc. The terms rural tourism are often confused with ecotourism. However, agritourism is not the same as ecotourism which is generally a marketing tool to promote the lifestyle of the environmentally conscious tourist, while rural tourism is associated with the lack of pollution, contact with pure nature , gastronomic values and traditional activities including local crafts, slow tourism and relaxed pace of life.
