The Women of Scout Finch's Childhood“If you can learn one simple trick, Scout, you'll get along very well with all kinds of people. You never truly understand a person until you look at things from their point of view." The women in Scout Finch's life are: Miss Caroline, Miss.Maudie, and Aunt Alexandrea. We can see from the actions of these characters that even though Scout does not have a mother, she has important female figures who are willing to help guide her through life. Each woman helps raise Scout in her own way. From Mrs. Caroline, Scout learns that teachers are here to help us, even if they are not always kind in their ways. From Aunt Alexandra, Scout learns the mindset of becoming a woman, Aunt Alexandra also taught Scout the history of the Finch family. From Miss.Maudie, Scout learns about her father and that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Miss Caroline helps Scout throughout his childhood in ways that Scout doesn't realize. For example, the scout said: "As I read the alphabet, a faint line appeared between his eyebrows, and after having me read aloud most of My First Reader and the stock quotes from The Mobile Register , discovered that I was literate and looked with more than vague disgust." The scout discovers Miss Caroline's personality. Miss Caroline is Scout's young first grade teacher who gets angry at Scout telling her that she can no longer read with Atticus because she doesn't know how to teach Scout. She also whips Scout on the first day of school because she misunderstands when Scout tells her that Walter Cunningham is poor and that's why he doesn't eat lunch. but you'll see: the school is different."...middle of the paper...until he took a lively and cordial interest in Jem's and mine's affairs." Said scout. Miss Maudie grew up with Atticus and his brother, Jack, she and Scout became close one summer when Jem and Dill excluded Scout from their games. “Miss Maudie's benevolence extended to Jem and Dill, whenever they interrupted their activities” this taught Scout that you should always strive to be kind. Miss Maudie, Aunt Alexandra and Miss Caroline are some of the most notable women in the life of the scouts as a child. Without her mother, Scout must seek advice from other people. The women in Scout Finch's life are Miss Caroline, Miss Maudie, and Aunt Alexandra, and we learn many different life lessons from them. There are many other women in the Scouts' lives in "To Kill a Mockingbird," but these are just a few of the women who have the greatest impact on the Scout. Works Cited To Kill a Mocking Bird
