Gender inequality or discrimination is illegal. Gender inequality didn't just start in the workplace. It started earlier. Throughout history, women were always expected to be the ones at home taking care of the children, while men were the breadwinners of the family. People hear about this and how it was done in Shakespeare's time and in other different cultures as well. Because of women getting rights, the hard fight for them and the change our society has undertaken, a change that may take some time to get used to. It is difficult to be on par with man not only in the workplace but also in normal everyday life. Since our time is so well educated, we need to change our mindset about women changing their roles in the home or workplace and men becoming comfortable with a woman who may be superior to him in business management . Slowly but surely people in business should work to close the gender gap, so that women can be equal to men. Some measures have already been put in place on how to eliminate the gender gap. This involves measures such as the Equal Pay Act of 1963 which required women to receive equal pay for equal work as men; some people however found this law to be a failure due to the unfair treatment of women in the workplace still evident during this time.
