Did you know that over 76% of children use the Internet more than three or four times a week? Although some websites may report incorrect or misleading information, the internet can represent a useful tool for educational purposes. In this article, readers will discover the reasons why the Internet can be useful for children. Have you ever wondered what a child does on the Internet? Although some websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Kik are good social sites where a child can socialize with other people he may or may not know. The Internet allows children to talk to people anywhere in the world. (Mitra, 2013) Sometimes it may have a negative side because it may prevent a child from interacting with friends and family, which may eventually make him or her antisocial. But according to research, computers don't make children antisocial. (Mitra, 2013) As I said, children are able to learn better when they are at home on the Internet than at school. Furthermore, children are able to perform better in school. In comparison, a child can learn better on the Internet than in school by reading a difficult book. Additionally, some computer programs can help children with their academic and mathematical skills. When children access the Internet on large, publicly visible screens in a safe, public environment, the Internet can be their most helpful friend. Groups of children can learn almost anything on their own, using the Internet. (Mitra, 2013) Additionally, learning to use a tool such as a computer or android can help a child learn to operate heavy machinery. Since the Internet can display misleading information, children can obviously learn from what they are reading.
