Team Behavior and ProcessesThere are many important elements that influence how a learning team behaves and the processes a learning team chooses to complete tasks and achieve desired goals . The current learning team has established roles and responsibilities, time management skills, and decision-making strategies that allow the team to realize its full potential. The learning team maintained a level of mutual trust and accountability that must exist for the team to be successful. Roles and Responsibilities The roles and responsibilities of a learning team should be identified during the first meeting (Thompson, 2000). When roles and responsibilities are established, lines of communication open and eliminates the need for team members to question each other's motives. Roles and responsibilities may change from week to week, depending on circumstances. Within our learning team, we have established policies by which we will rotate, on a weekly basis, responsibility for formatting the team's papers according to APA guidelines and publishing the papers. to the assignments newsgroup. We have also established that we will publish our individual sections of the team document in the team newsgroup every Friday. This will allow the weekly editor to review the input and make any changes deemed necessary. There are times, however, when this is not always the case. All team members currently work full time and have families. Situations arise where we simply cannot fulfill our responsibilities. If this were to happen, it is the other team member's responsibility to ensure that appropriate actions are taken so that the team can continue to function. Time Management When working in a learning group environment, time management skills are a tool that every member must use. Each member must take the time necessary to fulfill their obligations to the learning group. Otherwise, the results of the entire team can have a negative reflection. Time management skills are necessary for each member to have a healthy balance between work, home and school. Since this is our fourth lesson with the Flexnet program, we have pretty much solidified our time management skills so that each member can fulfill their obligations to the team. Decision-Making Strategies The final decision for the learning team is based on the concurrence of all team members. Some members have input and some members are the “go with the flow” type of individuals"..
