Long ago the area now known as our home, the United States of America, was discovered. This discovery of new terrain ultimately brought hope to many individuals who sought a new and diverse life. In the mid to late 1800s America attracted many Europeans. These immigrants sought the opportunity to earn a living with great opportunity and without negative interference from the government. Anyone would consider it an understatement to say that America, at that time, held great hopes for the future of its inhabitants. After all, America's founding purpose stems from one key element overall, freedom. The very first Americans arrived here in hopes of evading the current government and its discriminating laws regarding religion. Overall, America allowed for a place where government meant “the people” and focused on the people. Choice, opportunity, and free will have sustained America. Has America remained the reason for freedom? Some may believe this, but are they really examining the element that freedom represents? Freedom in America has been inappropriately distorted and redefined by our government. The importance of government in any large country remains vital, but its purpose should continue to serve the people, not deprive them of their rights. Child curfew laws are one clear way our freedom has diminished. Teens and teens need help and supervision, but not from the government. Not all teenagers are the same and not all teenagers need the same rules. We all struggle in different ways and our… middle of paper… at any age if the crime is particularly heinous. Now with all this; Should I believe that it is logical to impose a curfew on children who, in all other aspects of life, are given the privilege and responsibility of adults?
