In the book Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Lincoln is running for president as part of the Republican Party. Lincoln had a natural talent for storytelling, his ability to communicate, to reduce complex ideas to simple, colorful parables, would be a powerful asset in his later political life (Grahame-Smith 18). Lincoln was also the most intellectual leader of the Republican side as well as the most gifted orator (Grahame-Smith 145). In the story Team of Rivals Lincoln is also depicted as a member of the Republican Party. Lincoln as a Republican wants to abolish slavery because he thinks slavery is morally, socially, and politically wrong (Goodwin 203). Actually Abraham Lincoln's political views as a Republican; he was really against the use of slaves. Lincoln was also the first Republican president and was also the founder of the Republican Party. As president he had to make many political decisions and it was really difficult to make judgments such as “liberal” or “conservative” given the different culture that was America in the 1860s (Kersaw).
