Adult high school (AH)l is better than general education diploma (GED) because of the type of environment, availability of assistance, and materials used. In adult high school the setting is different from GED settings AH students have a designed building, they have small classes which allows the adult student to get plenty of help. For example, in an adult education context, young adults are able to socialize, connect emotionally, and learn from the experience of their classmates or schoolmates. There is competition as all the students talk to each other and know who is an "A" student, which leads to strong competition or they admire each other and this leads to the productivity of their studies. The adult high school students I researched on Mclain Adult High School in Jeffco go to school from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. They have three classes Monday through Thursday and one class on Friday which is optional and ends at 11:30am. Davine Wolfe, one of the adult students I interviewed, said: He wakes up early enough to enjoy his three classes and can work full time in the evenings and at the same time enjoy what's left of his day; on the other hand, l The GED setting is different. First of all there are no schools built just for GED students and if there are classes offered it takes 2-3 months. Students are expected to pass their GED and get out. Adult high schools have books, computers, and tests that are comprehensive introductions. If a student needs to study on their own, they can simply go and get the book and the book introduces the topic they are looking for, but GED has limited information, so that the person can only pass the test. What if you don't have a solid foundation to stand on... middle of paper... why GED? It's an easy way out. Teens who don't want to continue going to high school get the GED. Bottom line, it's never too late. Mclain Adult High School is for all adults and the teachers are there to help the students. The environment is encouraging, the material is helpful, and it's easy to get an "A." Works Cited “Devin Wolfe.” Personal interview. February 28, 2014.Hunter, E.
