My most memorable event as a child was when I was 15 years old. It was the 4th of July. A great family vacation with a BBQ, overnight stay and out of town trip to Six Flags, and I had a great time the night before I, my mom, sisters and brother packed up to spend the night at my friend's house cousin in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. He had the biggest house I ever thought a mansion was; six bedrooms, two bathrooms, a pool, a game/movie room with a beautiful large kitchen. This was something I wasn't used to, knowing we were staying in a three-bedroom apartment in an income-generating apartment on the east side of Nashville. Arriving at my cousin's house I saw many members of my family, even those who came from out of town. We said our goodbyes and went on with our business. While my grandmother, mother and aunts prepared food for the barbecue. The other adult would gather around different tables to play cards, dominoes, roll dice, and watch movies or sporting events on TV. I remember my brothers and cousins playing outside swimming, playing sports, dancing and hiding, looking for anything you could find....
